Scope of this Privacy Notice
Except as otherwise noted below, this Notice applies to the personal information that we collect about users of our websites and online services, including www.teck.com and our other websites and mobile applications where the Notice is posted, as well as the related services we provide through these. It also applies to certain personal information Teck collects offline, such as in the context of our business operations and communications (e.g., related to third party contractors who provide services on-site or at our offices and facilities (“Independent Contractors”) and vendors, agents and others with whom we interact in a business context), and others whose personal information we collect and process related to our business operations and functions. This Notice does not apply to employees or applicants. By providing personal information to us (whether via our website or by email, in person or over the phone), you understand and acknowledge the processing set out in this Notice. Where Canadian law applies to our collection of personal information, by continuing to use our website and services you consent to the collection and use of your personal information and authorize Teck and its third parties and service providers to process your personal information for the purposes described herein.
Note that there are some Quebec and EU/UK jurisdiction-specific terms towards the end of this Notice. If you are an individual in those locations, please also review those sections for additional information that may apply to you. If you are a resident of California, please review the section, “California Privacy Notice” at the end of this Notice, which includes additional information about the categories of personal information we collect and your privacy rights under California privacy law (including the right to opt out of sales and sharing pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act).
This Notice does also not apply to, and Teck is not responsible for, any third-party websites, mobile applications, platforms, features or other online services, which may be accessible (e.g., through links) from our websites (collectively “third-party websites”). If you follow a link to any of these third-party websites, they will have their own privacy policies and data practices and you will need to check the privacy policies and notices of each third party, respectively, before you submit any personal information to such third-party websites.
Collection of Personal Information
The actual personal information we collect and how we use it, varies depending upon the nature of your relationship and interactions with Teck. Please note that in some cases (such as where required by law), we will ask for your consent or give you certain choices prior to collecting or using certain personal information. Generally, Teck collects the following types of personal information about you, either directly from you, automatically, and/or in certain cases from third parties:
Information you provide to us
- Contact details and communications: Depending on the nature of your relationship with us, we may need to collect personal information about you, including, but not limited to, name, contact information, employer and job title (e.g., if working on behalf of one of our service providers), banking information, and if you are providing in-person services at one of our mine sites, we may also collect personal health information for safety purposes and to comply with certain laws Teck is subject to. Depending on your interactions with us regarding our products or services, we collect and maintain a record of your name and contact information, additional contact details you may provide, your communications and our responses, including, as relevant, a transcript of such communications and any information (including attachments) you may provide to us. If you call us, we may also record calls and maintain logs and records of those calls, including automated transcriptions.
- Transactions and billing information: if you purchase our products or services we will collect information such as your name, shipping and billing address, credit card and other payment information, and other transaction records and details. If you use our online store, we may also maintain transactional records about your past purchases, as well as items that you have viewed or added to your online shopping cart.
- Events and other information: we collect personal information related to your participation in our events as well as other requests that you submit to us related to our products and services. For example, if you register for or attend an event that we host or sponsor, we may collect information related to your registration for and participation in such event. When you fill out a ‘Contact Us’ or similar online form, sign up for our newsletter or other mailing lists, or otherwise request information from us, we collect and maintain records of your requests. If you complete a survey or feedback form, we collect personal information about you, including your responses and the feedback or ratings you provide.
Data we collect automatically or derive about you
When you visit our websites, including at www.teck.com, mobile applications or other online services and when you otherwise communicate or interact with us electronically, we may automatically collect information, including personal information about you, as well as information we derive about you and your use of the websites and online services. To do this, we may use cookies, pixel tags and other technology, including browser fingerprinting. Amongst other things, this information allows us to dynamically personalize the websites, services, for users and show you recommended content and advertising. Such information includes:
- Device and browser information: such as IP-address, general location information, domain name, browser type, device type, device ID, internet service provider, information, referring and exiting URLs, operating system, language, clickstream data, and similar device and usage information.
- Usage Data: activity information related to your use of our websites and services, as well as interactions with us, such as information regarding what pages you accessed and when, date and time of your visit, the links clicked, searches, features used, items viewed including content viewed or downloaded, features used, links clicked, emails opened, the date of time of the interaction, and the website or advertisement that was linked to or from the websites when you visited, and time spent within the websites and services. We may also use pixels in html emails to understand if you read or open the emails we send to you.

Personal Information Collected from Third Parties.
We may also collect certain personal information from third parties, such as:
- Third-party platforms: including social networks or other platforms (such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn or other third-party social network sites) that you may connect with or share information about us through, or when you log in to our services using your account login information and your username, personal profiles, and the actual social media networks you used. These third-party platforms and services control the personal information they collect and share about you. For information about how they may use and disclose your personal information, including any information you make public, please consult their respective privacy policies.
- Prospective customer information: lead and prospect information from third parties about prospective customers that may be interested in our products and services. We may also engage with third parties to enhance or update our customer information.

Disclosure of Personal Information
In general, we may disclose and make available personal information for the purposes described above, which include the following types of sharing or disclosures:
- To Teck Group Entities: Teck is a global company. As such, we may share personal information with the Teck Group Entities as part of our business operations and administration of our websites and services.
- To processors and service providers: We may share personal information with our third-party processors (including independent contractors and service providers) who perform services on our behalf. For example, we use third-party processors to provide us with technical support, payment processing, and to perform analytics and other work that we may need to outsource.
- To vendors and business partners: We may also disclose your personal information to other companies, vendors and business partners that perform certain functions for us. They include insurance companies, online gateway payment providers, credit card companies and banks. These vendors also have their own privacy practices, policies and regulatory obligations.
- To third-party platforms and services: We may disclose or make available personal information to third-party platforms and providers that we use to provide or make available certain features or portions of the websites and services, or as necessary to respond to your requests. Generally, payments are managed by third parties that act as separate businesses covered by their own privacy practices and policies.
- To marketing, advertising and analytics providers: We may disclose certain information that includes personal information to third-party ad network providers, sponsors and/or traffic measurement services, who may use this information to improve and measure the effectiveness of our ads and those of third parties. We may also engage third party analytics companies to collect information about website and online services usage in order to help us to understand how users access and use our websites and services, to improve our services and other products and offerings, and for other research and analytical purposes.
- In support of our legal and compliance obligations: We may disclose your personal information to others where such disclosure is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject insofar as reasonably necessary for these purposes and as permitted by law, whether in court proceedings or in an administrative or out-of-court procedure.
- In connection with a business transaction: We may disclose your personal information in connection with a business transaction (such as a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of assets), to buyers, their lawyers or professional advisors, where needed to affect the sale or transfer of business assets (such as a merger or acquisition) including related to due diligence conducted prior to such event, where permitted by law.
- For security and protection of rights: We may disclose personal information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our terms of use and other agreements, to respond to claims asserted against us, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved. We may also share personal information where necessary in order to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of another natural person, or where we believe necessary to protect the website or services, our business operations and our rights, such as to prevent and detect fraud, unauthorized activities and access, and other misuse.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our third-party providers use cookies, pixels and other tracking tools and technologies to automatically collect and record information about your browsing activities, usage and online activities, and the device you use to access our website and online services and use of our websites and online services (“usage data”). We use this information to, for example, analyze and understand how users access, use and interact with others through our websites and services, as well to identify and resolve bugs and errors in our services and to assess secure, protect, optimize and improve the performance of our services. You have certain choices about our use of cookies and tracking within the services, as described in this section.
Cookies, pixels and similar technologies can enhance your user experience by saving your preferences, personalizing your online experience, maintaining and managing your status as logged in or logged out, holding items in your shopping cart, and sometimes providing you with advertising which is tailored to your interests.
Browser cookies. A browser "cookie” is a file of information placed on your device when you visit a website. Browser cookies may allow us to identify your browser, computer or device.
Pixels. Sometimes called web beacons or clear GIFs, pixels are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. While cookies are stored locally on your device, pixel tags are embedded invisibly within web pages and online content. We may use these, in connection with our websites (including the cookies we use) and online content to, among other things, track the activities of users, manage content, and compile usage statistics. We may also use these in HTML e-mails we send, to help us track e-mail response rates, identify when our e-mails are viewed, and track whether our e-mails are forwarded.
Third party tools and technologies. Some of the cookies, pixels, tracking tools and similar technologies that we use or include within our websites and online services and content are provided by third parties. These include:
- Expresia: Our website uses Expresia, provided by Backbone Technology Inc., to collect usage data and technical information about your device and your use of our website (www.teck.com), and to create a usage profile for you on our website. This allows us to personalize our website for you and improve your user experience, including by targeting or suggesting content which we think you may be interested in on our website.
- Third party analytics: We also use third party analytics tools, including Google Analytics (For more info or to use the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add On go here) and Adobe Analytics (for more info or to use the Adobe Experience Cloud opt out go here). These third-party analytics companies may collect usage data (using cookies, pixels and similar tools) about your visits to our websites, as well as to other websites and online services, and to provide us with reports and metrics that help us to evaluate usage and improve performance and user experiences.
- Social media platforms: Teck is active on several social media platforms, and our website and online services may integrate add-ins (e.g., “follow” and “share” buttons) and tools, as well as pixels and cookies (that help us reach you with targeted content on our websites and on these and other third-party platforms) for these platforms. Our presence on these platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn) helps us strengthen our online presence and visibility. If you click on any social media buttons or features that we may provide on our websites, you will be re-directed to the relevant third-party platform (each of which is subject to the respective third party’s own privacy and cookie policies. Please see the privacy statements of these third parties for more information about their use of cookies.
Targeted Advertising. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Teck and certain selected third party companies, including our advertising services and networks, mobile networks and others (“third-party ad companies”), may place cookies and pixel tags on our and third-party websites and services. We and these third parties collect information about your online activities over time and across third-party websites and services. We and these third-party ad companies use this information for different purposes, including to provide you more relevant ads and content within our website and on third-party sites and apps, and to evaluate the success of such ads and content. These third parties may be members of industry self-regulatory groups such as the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA). The websites for these groups provide more information on interest-based online advertising and how to opt out of receiving interest-based online ads from participating companies. You can also adjust your preferences for most cookies on our website, as described below.
Manage Cookie Preferences. You have several choices for managing your cookie preferences, including:

Retention and Destruction
We will only keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the relevant purposes for which we collected the personal information as set out in this Notice or as otherwise disclosed to you, unless otherwise required in order to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations or if otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Where required to do so by applicable law, if we use your personal information to make a decision about you, we will retain that personal information for at least one year. Generally, the retention period we apply to personal information depends on the purposes we collected it. In some cases, we may be required to keep your personal information for tax, accounting, legal, litigation and other valid business reasons.
We will securely destroy or de-identify your personal information once we no longer need your personal information, in accordance with our records retention practices.
International Transfers
Your personal information may be transferred to and stored in jurisdictions outside of the jurisdiction where you reside and where it may be subject to access by foreign authorities in accordance with the laws of that jurisdiction. Security
Teck has implemented safeguards to designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, accidental loss, unauthorized alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access, misuse, and any other unlawful form of processing of the personal information in our possession.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is completely secure. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit or provide to us, and you do so at your own risk. We also cannot guarantee that such information may not be unlawfully accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
Marketing Communications
You may opt-out of marketing communications at any time by following the instructions provided to you in the communications we send to you. If you opt-out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional communications.

Your Privacy Rights
Subject to certain conditions and limitations, certain privacy laws provide you with a number of rights with respect to your personal information, including, as applicable, the right to:
- Access: You are entitled request access to your personal information;
- Accuracy: We are required to take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information in our possession is accurate and complete; and
- Correction: You are entitled to request that any incomplete or inaccurate personal information we hold be corrected. If we do not correct the information, we will annotate it to show that the request was made.
In addition, under certain circumstances, you have the following rights:
- You may withdraw your consent to the disclosure or use of the personal information we have collected from you at any time (with effect for the future).

Additional Information for Quebec Residents
If you do not consent to the terms of this Notice, please do not access or use this website.
Consent. We will only collect your personal information with your clear, free and informed consent. We will not collect your personal information automatically without your consent.
We will not knowingly or specifically solicit or collect personal information from minors under the age of 14 residing in Quebec. If you believe we have unintentionally collected such personal information, please contact our privacy officer at set out below.
Tracking and profiling technologies. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in this Notice, we will only collect your personal information using technology which allows you to be located, profiled or tracked (i) after having duly informed you of our intent to use such technologies and (ii) if you choose to activate such technologies.
Privacy rights. In addition to the rights set out in the section “Your Privacy Rights” above, Quebec residents have the right to:
- Request, in certain circumstances, that we cease disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink that allows access to that personal information by technological means, if such dissemination contravenes applicable law or a court; and
- Request that a copy of your personal information that we hold be communicated to you in a structured, commonly used technological format, and that this information be communicated to any person or organization authorized by law to collect such information.

Additional Information for Individuals in the EU/UK
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) applies to the processing of your personal information (or the UK equivalent to the GDPR, “UK GDPR”, where applicable) then the following terms shall apply.
Controller. Teck Resources Limited shall be the controller of your personal information and can be contacted at privacy.officer@teck.com.
Purposes and legal bases. If you are visiting this website from within the European Union (“EU”) or United Kingdom (“UK”), while visiting this website of Teck and associated websites, we may collect and process certain of your personal information as a data controller for the purposes of the GDPR and UK GDPR. We will use such information for the purposes and legal bases described above, in the “Use of Personal Information” section of this Notice. If you choose to contact us by email we may also process some of your personal information and the basis for this processing will depend on the nature of your communication to us.
If we process health information, which is a special category under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, we will seek your explicit consent to do so, or process as otherwise permitted by Article 9 of the GDPR or UK GDPR.
Retention. We will retain your personal information for as long as we deem necessary or as required by law for the purposes disclosed to you or as otherwise required by applicable law. Our retention timeframes are reviewed on a periodic basis.
If you do not provide required personal information. If you fail to provide us with necessary personal information we request, we may not be able to provide you with the services or responses you require or requested.
Transfers of personal information to international locations. Please note that Teck is located outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and UK and that by visiting this website your personal information may be collected by us outside the EEA and UK. Sometimes, those jurisdictions may be deemed “adequate” under the GDPR or UK GDPR whereas sometimes Teck will need to employ further safeguards such as appropriate standard contractual clauses issued by the European Commission, or, for transfers subject to the UK GDPR, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Data Subject Rights. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you also have certain rights in relation to your personal information, which include:
- the right to access (including requesting copies of the personal information we hold about you).
- the right to erase (including removal of your personal information from our systems, though note this right is not absolute if we have a requirement to continue to hold your personal information).
- the right to rectify your personal information (if the personal information we hold about you is incomplete or inaccurate).
- the right to object to or to restrict the processing of your personal information (which prevents us from processing your personal information in certain ways, though note this right is not absolute).
- the right to data portability of personal information concerning you that you provided us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, under certain conditions.
- the right to object to decisions being taken by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you, under certain conditions (though note that Teck do not currently undertake any automated decision-making about you using your personal information).
- the right to withdraw your consent to processing where processing is based on consent (though note this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal).

Transfers of personal information to third parties. We will sometimes need to send your personal information to third party suppliers and contractors in order for them to process your personal information on our behalf. Where this is the case, we will ensure we enter into contracts with those relevant parties and include the applicable safeguards required by the GDPR and UK GDPR.
Marketing. Where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing, we may need to first obtain your consent. Where this is the case, we shall ensure you are provided with accurate information about the types of marketing we will use and will supply information about how to opt out of any marketing communications. De-identified data. Teck may also collect, use, share, disclose, and otherwise process aggregate, anonymous, and in some cases de-identified information related to our business, products and services for research, marketing, analytics, and other purposes. Where we use, disclose or process de-identified information, we will maintain and use this information in de-identified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information, except in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
“Sale” and “Sharing” of Personal Information. California privacy laws define a “sale” as disclosing or making available to a third party, personal information in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration, and “sharing” as disclosing or making available personal information to a third party for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not disclose personal information to third parties in exchange for monetary compensation. We may “sell” (as defined by the CCPA) Identifiers and Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information to third-party advertising networks and agencies, analytics providers, and social networks. We may “share” (as defined by the CCPA) Identifiers, Customer Records, Commercial Information, Location Data, and Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information to third-party advertising networks and agencies, analytics providers, and social networks, as well as our Affiliates. We do not “sell” or “share” (as defined by the CCPA) sensitive personal information, nor do we “sell” or “share” any personal information about individuals who we know are under sixteen (16) years old.
Sources of Personal Information. As further described in this Notice, in general, we may collect the categories of personal information as defined by the CCPA and identified in the table above directly from you, automatically related to your use of Teck’s IT networks and resources, websites, mobile applications, and other online services and information resources, our affiliates and subsidiaries, and from the following categories of third-party sources:
- Customers,
- Your Employers
- Third-party websites and services,
- Ad networks and agencies,
- Analytics providers,
- Social networks,
- Internet service providers,
- Operating systems and platforms,
- Our vendors and service providers,
- Publicly available information, and
- Others as directed by you.
Purposes for Collecting, Using and Disclosing Personal Information. As described in more detail in the Section “Use of Personal Information” above, in general, we collect and otherwise process the personal information identified in the table above in order to provide you with our products and services, respond to and fulfil your orders and requests, to provide you with customer service and support, as otherwise directed or consented to by you, and for the business or commercial purposes as summarized below:
- Services, account administration, and customer support
- Communications and interactions with you, including surveys and feedback
- Research and analytics
- Customization and personalization of content
- Marketing and advertising
- Planning, managing, and administering events
- Managing general business and operational support
- Managing our safety and health screenings for on-site visitors
- Detect and prevent fraud and misuse
- Providing security and protecting Teck’s rights or those of others
- Complying with law, legal processes and other legal obligations
Disclosure of Personal Information. In general, we may disclose and make available personal information for the purposes described above, which include the following types of disclosures (as further described in the “Disclosure of Personal Information” section above:
- To Teck Group Entities
- To processors and service providers
- To vendors and business partners
- To third-party platforms and services
- To marketing, advertising and analytics providers
- In support of our legal and compliance obligations
- In connection with a business transaction
- For security and protection of rights
Retention. We will only keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the relevant purposes for which we collected the personal information as set out in this Notice or as otherwise disclosed to you, unless otherwise required in order to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations or if otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Privacy Rights of California Residents. In general, California residents have the following rights with respect to their personal information:
- The Right to Know/Access: With respect to the personal information we have collected about California residents in the prior 12 months, to require that we disclose the following to them (up to twice per year and subject to certain exemptions):
- the categories of personal information collected;
- the categories of sources of personal information;
- the categories of personal information about them we have disclosed for a business purpose or sold;
- the categories of third parties to whom we have sold or disclosed their personal information for a business purpose;
- the business or commercial purposes for collecting or selling their personal information; and
- a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about them.
- Right to Correct: the right to request that a business correct inaccurate personal information that it maintains about the California residents.
- Right to Delete: the right to request deletion of their personal information that we have collected about them.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale and Sharing: the right to opt out of our sale and sharing of their personal information.
- Right to Limit Use or Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information: the right to limit the use or disclosure of sensitive personal information to those authorized by California privacy laws.
- Right to Non-Discrimination/ Non-Retaliation: the right not to be subject to discriminatory treatment and retaliation for exercising their rights under the CCPA.
Submitting Requests to Know/Access, Correct and Delete. California residents may submit requests to Know/Access, Correct and Delete their personal information by e-mailing us at privacy.officer@teck.com.
When you submit a request to access/know, correct, or delete, we will need to verify your identity before processing your request, which may require us to request additional personal information from you or require you to log in to your account, if you have one. In certain circumstances, we may decline or limit your request, particularly where we are unable to verify your identity or locate your information in our systems, or as permitted by law. Authorized agents may initiate a request on behalf of another individual by contacting us at privacy.officer@teck.com authorized agents will be required to provide proof of their authorization, and we may also require that the relevant California resident directly verifies their identity and the authority of the authorized agent with us.
Submitting Requests to Opt Out of Sales and Sharing. California residents may submit a request to opt out of sale or sharing (as defined by the CCPA) by us via your browser (“online opt out”).
- GPC: our websites recognize global privacy control (“GPC”) signals. If we detect that your browser is transmitting a GPC signal when you visit this site, we will opt your browser out of ‘Targeting, Marketing & Social Media’ and ‘Analytics & Personalized Experiences’ cookies on this site. - Cookie Preference Manager: you can also turn off these types of cookies via our Cookie Preference Manager, by switching the respective toggles on the right of the reviewing the ‘Targeting, Marketing & Social Media’ and the ‘Analytics & Personalized Experiences’ section to the left. Please note that your cookie preferences are applied on a browser and device-specific basis. Shine the Light. If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (“Shine the Light”) permits you to request from us a list of the third parties to whom we have disclosed personally identifiable information about you for their own direct marketing purposes. We do not share personally identifiable information (as defined under Shine the Light) with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without either obtaining your consent or giving you the ability to opt-out. However, if you still wish to request a list, you may make one request per calendar year. Direct Marketing. You may always opt out of our direct marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribing link contained in the marketing or promotional emails we send to you or by contacting us as set out below. Please note that we may continue to send you transactional or service-related communications, such as service announcements and administrative messages, as far in accordance with applicable law.
Children. Our websites are not designed for, or directed at, children under the age of thirteen (13) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals in this age group. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information about a child, please contact us.

This Notice is current as of the Last Updated date. Teck reserves the right to update or modify this Notice at any time and, unless required by applicable law, without prior notice. Changes to this Notice will be posted on this website. If we make any changes to this Notice that materially affect Teck’s practices with regard to the personal information we have previously collected from you, we will endeavour to provide you with notice in advance of such change by highlighting the change on our websites or notifying you electronically. Where we are required to do so by applicable law, we will seek your consent to such changes.
