Transforming HR Services at Teck: What You Need to Know

Teck HR has embarked on a digital transformation that will transform how HR services are delivered across our company to better support our business, now and into the future.  

Here’s what you need to know:

We’re working towards a fully integrated HR technology platform
The HRIS transformation will see the implementation of a fully integrated HR technology platform within People Central that will simplify HR processes across Teck and provide timely, accurate employee information and analytics.

We’re adding to existing modules in People Central 
People Central is not new to Teck; it currently supports Performance Management, Recruitment, Learning Management, Compensation, and Succession and Development for some employee groups. 

We’re working to enhance our employees’ experience
Through the implementation of the next phase and the addition of new modules, employees will experience the full benefits of self-service, real-time access to personal and HR information, and improved efficiencies in payroll and other areas. Employees will be able to access and update their information using common internet browsers or can download the optional mobile apps available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

We’re building on past success
The full suite of People Central modules was successfully implemented across Chile and at Highland Valley Copper. The rollout of the new system for other parts of the business is underway and includes Coal, Energy, Exploration, Projects and Technical Services, Marketing and Logistics Team, as well as Teck’s Vancouver and Richmond offices.    

We’re planning to go live early next year
Work to advance this project is underway now and the first release is anticipated to begin in early Q1, 2022.

We’re working with local teams
Our implementation team is working with site leadership and HR Leads to develop site-specific plans to ensure the successful delivery of this project. 

We’re working towards a One Teck HR system
Once these new technologies are fully implemented, we will have a One Teck HR system across the entire business that will help us work more efficiently, cost-effectively and in a more integrated way.
