Community Celebrates Grand Opening of Wind Power Project

Members of the community joined with Teck and Suncor Energy to celebrate the grand opening of the Wintering Hills Wind Power Project near Drumheller, Alberta.

More than 200 community members participated in the celebration at the Dalum Community Hall near Wintering Hills. Festivities included music, food, games and donation announcements by Teck and Suncor to support three local organizations – the Badlands Community Facility, Dalum Community Hall, and the Drumheller Community Football Association.

Wintering Hills is an 88-megawatt (MW) wind power project consisting of 55 1.6 MW turbines. Teck holds a 30% interest in the project, a joint venture with Suncor Energy. At peak capacity, Wintering Hills generates enough power for approximately 35,000 Alberta homes.
