The Possibilities Fund has one funding category (CAD$5,000) eligible to dependent children/grandchildren of employees and retirees who are nationally carded athletes in an Olympic or Paralympic sport or dependent children/grandchildren of employees and retirees who are competing in Olympic or Paralympic sporting events at an international level.

Yes, employees and retirees of any property that is majority-owned by Teck are included. Children and grandchildren of employees or retirees of any of Teck's affiliated operations and offices may apply.

A carded athlete is a national level athlete who is eligible for monthly funding from a recognized national organization (for example, Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program).

All applications are reviewed by the Possibilities Fund selection committee on an annual basis. 

Based on the contact information provided in your application, you will receive written notification if your application is successful following the committee’s review.

A dependent is, at the time of the submission deadline for the Possibilities Fund:

  • Under age 21 and;
  • Not married or in any other formal union recognized by law; or
  • A full-time student attending an accredited school or university until they are age 25.

To be considered for the Possibilities Fund, the applicant must be either:

  • the child of an employee, the child of an employee’s spouse or the child for whom the employee or the employee’s spouse has been appointed the legal guardian.
  • the grandchild of an employee or the employee’s spouse or the grandchild of an employee or their spouse who has been appointed the legal guardian.
