At a ceremony in Santiago, Teck was presented with the 2015 National Environment Award by the Recyclápolis Foundation, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and El Mercurio newspaper for our commitment to sustainability in the category of air quality initiatives in recognition of our use of double-layer blasting at CDA. More than 100 submissions from various types of companies were considered for the award.

“What Teck has done is remarkable,” said Fernando Nilo, President, Recyclápolis Foundation. “With Chile’s large mining sector, progress is crucial. Undoubtedly, this technology represents a breakthrough for improving air quality in the town of Andacollo, and for the industry in general.”

The National Environment Award was established by the Recyclápolis Foundation to recognize the efforts of Chilean and multinational companies for their commitment to sustainability and the environment.
