Mining for Miracles

June 30, 2013

Mining for Miracles is the B.C. mining community’s longstanding fundraising campaign for the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Since 1988, Mining for Miracles has raised more than CAD $20 million for B.C. Children’s Hospital.

Teck’s has been involved since day one. Our employees volunteer their time and donate funds to Mining for Miracles through payroll deductions and direct donations which Teck matches, and through various events such as the Highland Valley Copper Fishing Derby.

One of Mining for Miracles’ signature events is the Teck Celebrity Pie Throw, which has grown from humble beginnings at the Teck Corporate Office. This event, now open to the entire B.C. mining industry, throws the world’s most expensive cream pies in the faces of mining industry leaders, all in support of B.C.’s sick and injured kids. Over the past decade, the event alone has raised nearly CAD $11 million.
