Community Investment

Investing in communities. Investing in our future.

Red Dog Operations contributes to education, youth, health and cultural organizations in nearby communities that are home to many of our employees.

  • As a good corporate citizen, the mine provides a host of yearly community benefits. In 2007, Red Dog contributed nearly $1.2 million to support regional programs.
  • Under the Teck Corporate Giving Initiative, $675,000 in funding was given to various organizations in 2007, including: University of Alaska; Northwest Arctic Borough School District; Search and Rescue in the Northwest Arctic Borough; Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Alaska; Maniilaq Association and Sulainich Arts Center.
  • The mine sponsors and organizes annual school visits in the region from John Baker, Iditarod musher and local hero. A role model for youth, John shares his personal stories of courage, commitment and sobriety with elementary and high school students in the region.
